THREE DECADES

Pages,

Aged and crackling,

Yellowed by Time,

Containing words placed in silence,

Poems,

Paused and poised

On paper

Crumbling with the years . . .

Lines etched with pens

Now empty, dried out

And abandoned.

What gems

Might yet survive

The decaying, brittle

Tablets . . .

Moments,

Shaped and pursued

By words,

Linger beyond

The shredded medium,

Torn and tattered

And discarded.
